Three Natural Herbs to Increase Penile Size (Temporarily at Least)

If you've ever felt a mild desire to increase the dimensions of your penis but haven't been inclined to try tugging, stretching, pumping or surgically mutilating it, then you might be intrigued to know that a few simple herbs and natural compounds might help you to achieve the job - albeit temporarily.

You see, making the most of your natural penis size can be achieved simply by increasing penile blood flow and enhancing your testosterone levels.

I'm sure I don't need to tell you that when you get extremely sexually aroused your penis tends to look bigger than usual - simply because you're feeling hornier than a rabbit on Viagra; which in turn engorges your penis with blood to its absolute natural limits. The good news is that a quick trip down to your local health food store can help you emulate that extreme state of sexual arousal on a more or less erection-for-erection basis.

The three natural ingredients you'll see listed below have traditionally been used to treat male sexual dysfunctions such as lack of sex drive and/or poor erectile function. And whilst they're known to be extremely effective as a means of treating these conditions, their effects can be even more pronounced when taken by healthy men with normal penile function - yes, you've guessed it...to promote a slight increase in penis size. In fact, these three ingredients are the staples of most of the penis pill formulas you've probably seen advertised.

First on the list is L-arginine, an amino acid that the body needs in order to produce nitric oxide (or NO for short). NO is a chemical messenger that's absolutely vital for normal erectile function - it signals the penile arteries to expand during sexual arousal, which in turn enables the penis to fill with blood. In fact, L-arginine has been dubbed the 'natural Viagra' because it exploits the same physiological process as the well known anti-impotence drug.

The powerful effects of L-arginine were illustrated by a study published in the British Journal of Urology in 1999, which involved fifty men suffering from erectile dysfunction. Half the test group were given a high daily dose of L-arginine, whilst the other half were given a placebo. Those given L-arginine achieved pronounced improvements to their overall sexual function, including the quality of their erections. Those given the placebo...well, no prizes I'm afraid for guessing not a lot changed.

As far as herbs are concerned, Ginkgo is also well known for its penile blood boosting properties - again, due to its ability to expand the penile arteries. In fact, Ginkgo does the job so well that a study published in the Journal of Sex Education and Therapy noted that 78 percent of a group of 50 men experienced significant improvements in 'penile rigidity' when they were given a daily dose of 240mg of Ginkgo over a nine month period.

Asian Ginseng is another herb well worth a mention. This herb contains active compounds called ginsenosides that have a couple of penis size improving effects. Firstly, similar to L-arginine, Ginseng also increases the body's production of nitric oxide and hence, improves penile blood flow. Secondly, the herb's active compounds also raise levels of adrenocorticotrophic (ACTH), a hormone that in turn stimulates increased testosterone production. According to a study published in the International Journal of Impotence in 1995, "erectile parameters such as penile rigidity and girth, libido and patient satisfactions were significantly higher" in a test group of thirty men given 1800mg of Ginseng over a three month period.

If combined correctly and taken in the correct quantities, the above herbs may well make your penis look slightly bigger - both when flaccid and erect. Of course, you won't see any permanent increases in penile size - the effects will last only as long as you continue to take them.

To really maximize the potential penis size increasing effects you can achieve through this type of dietary supplementation there are a fair few other 'pro-sexual' herbs that should be added to the list including Ellagic acid, Damiana, Epimedium Sagittatum, Muira Puama and Tribulus to name but a few. Many of these herbs interact with one another to produce results that are far greater than when taken individually - but that's a topic I'll hit on next time.
